Friends & Neighbors
The last year has been challenging. We’re so grateful for the crew that has risen above our internal struggles to care for the most important part of East Glisan – you.
It was never just about the pizza. Our intention has always been to create a space where folks are welcome as they are, are truly appreciated, feel comfortable being themselves, and connect over great food & drink. We see you feeling that way & you tell us that we’ve done that. The love & appreciation we get every night we’re here is literally what has kept us going for 11 years, especially the last 2. It’s difficult to express just how satisfying & motivating it is to serve such a kind, enthusiastic community.
So many of you over the years have gifted us with openhearted vulnerability, and it's only fair that we offer ours back, so here's the truth: behind the scenes, before we open & after we close, East Glisan is not the place we need it to be for us, or what we want it to be for employees. We haven't been able to evolve into what we want to be while remaining open. We’ve really tried and now we’re exhausted and burnt out.
Starting Monday, March 17, we're taking some space to look at the business with new eyes, to take what we’ve learned over the past 11 years and rebuild with structure and culture in place that we and our crew deserve. We look forward to a healthy relationship with a business we’re excited about outside of the times we get to see you.
We will be back because we love you all,
Todd & Kristen
